IMPROVE YOUR RELATIONSHIP WITH

Marriage Counseling

Dr. Williams has received many hours of training and utilizes the Gottman theory for making relationships work. This method is centered on the concept that to make a relationship last, couples must become better friends, learn to manage conflict, and create ways to support each other's hopes for the future. Drs. John and Julie Gottman have shown how couples can accomplish this by paying attention to what they call the sound relationship house.

The Gottman Method of Couples Therapy is based on Dr. John Gottman’s research that began in the 1970’s and continues to this day. The research has focused on what makes relationships succeed or fail. From this research, Drs. John and Julie Gottman have created a method of therapy that emphasizes a “nuts-and-bolts” approach to improving clients’ relationships.

This method is designed to help teach specific tools to deepen friendship and intimacy in your relationship. To help you productively manage conflicts, you will be given methods to manage “resolvable problems” and dialogue about “gridlocked” (or perpetual) issues. We will also work together to help you appreciate your relationship’s strengths and to gently navigate through its vulnerabilities.

We know how difficult it can be to share your thoughts and issues. There are some who may view seeking help as a sign of weakness, but we see it as an indication of strength. Everyone experiences challenges and are at times lost and become frustrated. It is our opinion that people who seek help are able to not only overcome their current challenges, but they are also able to grow, learn and prepare to overcome future challenges much more easily.
